We usually order from [http://digikey.com DigiKey] (free shipping, fairly cheap) or [http://www.futureelectronics.com Future Electronics] ($50 shipping, very cheap). [http://mouser.com Mouser] also ships free above 80 CHF.

Because DigiKey and Future carry different parts, it is not easy to do a cheap order with exactly one part, because sometimes alternative parts exist in the other store that are cheaper.

I need some parts and I don't know how to easily get them in Switzerland. I would be interested if someone could get me the parts and I can give this person something in exchange or pay him (I'll also pay the parts of course) I just don't have the time needed to buy them on ebay or on dubious chinese sites (and I don't want to bother). What do you guys think? I will probably buy the first set for myself sometime soon.

Mode coup de gueule: ON, Les cartes à pastilles c'est de la merde pour créer des circuits (sauf en Wire Wrap ou c'est vraiment bien !, mais il faut les tools pour le wrapping) ! VRAIMENT ! tu fais les ponts à la main ?!?!?! = dénuder mille fils + les torsader + les étamer + les braser, ensuite t'as un merdier de fils pas possible, dès que t'approche le fer t'as 99.9% de chance de toucher l'isolation, elle fond, elle crame, ça pue, c'est du travail de n00b ! et chaque brasure ne sert qu'au maintien mécanique étant donné que la pastille n'est reliée à rien... 
Une meilleure solution: Tu prototype en breadboard ou sur papier ou pc (simulation) et après tu montes en veroboard=stripboard (c'est comme du breadboard dans le principe t'as des lignes qui conduisent dans un sens = pistes)

 T'as au moins la moitié des ponts en moins car ils sont déjà sur la carte (et c'est facile d'interrompre, juste un coup de cutter) et tu fais des ponts avec du fil monobrin, rigide, en surface = pas besoin de torsader ni d'étamer = mille temps gagné ! Franchement c'est pas dur d'aller sur un vrai site d'électronique (distrelec, farnell) et d'aller sur la catégorie "cartes proto" ou "cartes de labo" et de regarder ce qu'il y a et ce qui serait pratique... J'ai mis à chauffer le fer Weller rouge, la panne est tombée (une panne conique ! quelqu'un a changé la panne du seul fer qui était équipé d'une panne plate pour une panne conique alors que le 100% des autres fers en sont équipés !!!)
La vis qui était sensé tenir la panne est indévissable car abimée... (ça ne m'étonne pas que la panne soit tombée) il faudrait "percer" la vis pour l'enlever (ce qui ne devrait pas être très compliqué vu qu'elle à l'air de partir en miettes) et en trouver une adaptée qui tienne la panne au moins. Pourquoi équiper tout les fers avec des pannes pour le SMD ????? en plus toutes coniques ! Je pense que c'est vraiment plus utile d'avoir des pannes plates et un fer pour le SMD (et peut être un fer SMD avec mini vague...) étant donné qu'on brase plutôt du THT et non SMD et qu'on fait souvent de la récup. alors récupérer le traversant avec une panne SMD..... et le SMD lui même ça ne se récupère pas dans la plupart des cas........... on a essayé de voir ce qu'on pouvait faire avec [[user:gcmalloc]] mais par manque d'outillage le fer rouge est useless pour le moment... (Si jamais le peux l'amener à l'école et percer la vis avec une perceuse à colonne, refaire le taraudage et mettre une vis adaptée ! J'ai mis à chauffer le fer Weller rouge, la panne est tombée (une panne conique ! quelqu'un a changé la panne du seul fer qui était équipé d'une panne plate pour une panne conique alors que le 100% des autres fers en sont équipés !!!)
La vis qui était sensé tenir la panne est indévissable car abimée... (ça ne m'étonne pas que la panne soit tombée) il faudrait "percer" la vis pour l'enlever (ce qui ne devrait pas être très compliqué vu qu'elle à l'air de partir en miettes) et en trouver une adaptée qui tienne la panne au moins. Pourquoi équiper tout les fers avec des pannes pour le SMD ????? en plus toutes coniques ! Je pense que c'est vraiment plus utile d'avoir des pannes plates et un fer pour le SMD (et peut être un fer SMD avec mini vague...) étant donné qu'on brase plutôt du THT et non SMD et qu'on fait souvent de la récup. alors récupérer avec une panne SMD..... et le SMD ça ne se récupère pas dans la plupart des cas........... on a essayé de voir ce qu'on pouvait faire avec [[user:gcmalloc]] mais par manque d'outillage le fer rouge est useless pour le moment... (Si jamais le peux l'amener à l'école et percer la vis avec une perceuse à colonne, refaire le taraudage et mettre une vis adaptée ! Wertenbr: the uC crashed again

Some suggestions (I can help or make things of course)
* Use a separate uCs for the door and the "internet" thingy (make one that does one thing and does it well)
* Make a good use out of the interrupt functions, timers etc in the uC
* Program the uC with a failback mode (using watchdogs for instance)
* The doorlock requires attention, it's a really important part I think (if it fails someone unwanted could come in or someone could be locked outside)
* The code has to be as simple and as clear as possible, it has to be bug free
* Adding a battery for the uC and for the door-lock in case of power break down
I can (would be happy to) work on the project a bit if nobody is wanting to do it. I have experience in programming Atmel uCs and intel 8051 uCs, know how to build a StripBoard circuit etc... I can also use LCDs screens or 7segs to display information. I have the components or uCs so basically it would be free (no $$$ spend) Naturally it will come with all the documentation (made by me), I could also write the logs on a memory etc... (so every time someone opens the door it could be registered etc...)

Il faudra aussi un moyen simple de changer le status du hs et de twitter, de plus l'histoire des logs serait vraiment interessante, on y avait pensé à l'époque, mais ca s'est jamais fait. Je trouve l'idée d'avoir une board qui fait qu'une seule chose et qui le fait bien très très bonne. Mais il faut aussi prévoir de pouvoir facilement interfacer des utilitaires. Ne pourrait-on pas communiquer avec la board en série depuis foo par exemple ? Well, if you would have been there, you would have seen how cool it is - look at the vids. Either way, the response was pretty awesome, with a few awwww's and oh's as we played with them. Nevertheless, there isn't enough light at the moment in the hs, so this provides a cool, somewhat cost effective solution. Ah oups... sorry about that! You were the guy from Geneva, right? The one I talked to on the train (I'm still relatively new, not too good with faces)? BTW, the ones you linked to are actually RGB, however its kind of cheating because every chip is a different color and you can't control the colors separately. What's more, the strips there are of smaller size, thus emitting less light. The only advantage they have over the ones I'm (probably) getting of ebay is that they are waterproof.
