Summary

The use of VPNs is becoming more and more widespread among users who want to hide their traffic to ISPs. It makes a lot of sense when we see what is happening around the world with laws à la Hadopi, with censure or with government prosecution.

The users tend to think they are secure because they use a VPN ("Strong, secure and anonymous" as the marketing propaganda says), but the reality is totally different: they actually drastically increase the likelihood of being attacked.

In this talk, we will see the privacy issues related to the use of misconfigured VPNs and the implication it can have on a user using the service.

The presentation will not be too technical, although a basic understanding of network architecture is preferable.
